The True Meaning of Love

Are you really ready for love?

We all want to love and be loved. But are we ready for love?

Are we ready for the selflessness, sacrifice, courage, and loyalty that true love demands?

Are we ready to sometimes lay down our wills and desires for another’s?

Are we ready to sometimes die to some things, that another may live?

Are we ready to love another human being as much as we love ourselves? Are we ready for a certain kind of death?

Love is more than a feeling; love is more than a sweet romance.

Love is loving another as much as we love ourselves, and so love in its truest sense is divine- for what man in himself can claim such a high feat?

Perhaps on days like this, we should remember the ONLY ONE in human history who showed us what love is and loved with a passion so deep it could only be divine. And then, aspire for the same.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. John 3:16‭-‬18 NIV

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. John 15:13 NIV

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

1 Corinthians 13:4‭-‬5‭, ‬7 NIV
