STAND IN THE GAP: The Power of Praying For Others
Sometimes, your prayers are the only thing standing between someone and a terrible disaster.
Whenever you feel a burden for someone, pray as soon as you can—and don’t stop praying until that burden lifts. You can also pray in tongues; it is a powerful way to communicate with God.
Prayer is powerful. I say this from personal experience. Prayer invites God to intervene in the challenges of life.
Remember, "the earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results" (James 5:16-18 NLT).
If you usually don’t feel a burden to pray, ask God to give you His burdens and work on developing a closer relationship with Him through regular Bible study, prayer, and worship.
Wondering who to pray for?
There are many people that God wants us to pray for, including:
- The unsaved—those who don’t believe in Jesus as Lord & Saviour (John 3:16–18)
- The sick, the lost, the broken, the poor, and those discouraged.
- Broken homes and prodigal children
- Addicts and those with mental health challenges
- The oppressed & victims of trafficking and exploitation
- Those grieving or in deep physical or emotional pain
- Christians who have strayed from God.
Today, who will you stand in the gap for through prayer?
Fix a time you'll pray for these people, and pray. Do this everyday. Let your prayers be more of praying for others, than yourself.
You can impact millions from your room and move mountains for someone in desperate need with your prayers.
Sometimes, all that God is waiting for to move mightily in a challenging situation is your prayers— your earnest and persistent prayers.
