How To Stop Being Anxious.

5 Simple Perspectives To Help You Worry Less.

We have no business worrying about things we can’t control or change.

For example, we worry about that colleague that doesn't like us, or some mistake we made in the past

We can't control who likes us, but we can control how we react when they show their dislike— either we respond with hate or with grace.

Similarly, we can’t change our past, but we can determine our future — by God’s grace. Though we may have experienced things in the past that hurt us deeply, we can’t afford to stay in the past, going over the hurt again and again in our minds.

Rather, by God’s grace, we can learn from the past, focus on the future, and move on. (P.S Sometimes, we need the help of a therapist to move on.)

The next time you’re about to spiral down into worrying about things you can’t control, please remember these 5 things:

1. The only person you have full control of is YOU.

Stop letting things you can't control worry you and drain your energy. Focus on things you can control.

And the number one thing you can control is YOU.

The better you become, the more you expand your influence and have a better chance to influence people and situations connected to you.

2. You can’t control people.

The best you can do is influence people — you can’t control them. In the end, THEY decide what they do.

Similarly, you don't control people's opinions about you. No matter what you do, some people will not like you or regard you.

Stop worrying about it. Instead, focus on what you can control- you.

Keep improving yourself so you become someone that God is proud of. Your heavenly Father’s opinion of you is what matters.

3. You don’t always control the outcome of your efforts.

You may apply for a job, business deal, scholarship, promotion etc. but you don’t decide if they accept you or not. Stop worrying about it.

Instead, work on what you can control; keep improving your CV/proposal/efforts and keep applying for other opportunities.

4. Dealing with situations outside your control:

Certain situations are beyond your control, but there may be someone who can influence them. Instead of worrying needlessly, see if you can affect the situation through that person or someone who knows them.

At times, when you are unable to control a situation, the best course of action is to PRAY; communicate with GOD, the ONE in control of everything. After that, just REST and quietly trust Him to take care of it.

You might say, "It's easier said than done." I agree. However, it is possible.

You can train your mind, with God’s help, to worry less about things you cannot control and focus more on things that you can.

5. Say the Serenity Prayer & Meditate on Scripture.

Do you often find yourself worried or anxious?

Say the Serenity prayer: God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

And memorize and think deeply on these:

Therefore I tell you, stop being worried or anxious (perpetually uneasy, distracted) about your life... Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow [seed] nor reap [the harvest] nor gather [the crops] into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they? Matthew 6:25‭-‬26 AMP

And which of you by worrying can add one hour to his life’s span? So if you are not even able to do a very little thing [such as that], why are you worried about the rest? Luke 12:25‭-‬26 AMP

Psalms 23:1-2 AMP

[1] The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, to guide and to shield me], [Ezekiel 34:11-31]I shall not want. [2] He lets me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still and quiet waters. [Revelation 7:17]

(Think deeply upon, repeatedly declare and commit to memory, the whole of Psalm 23, Psalm 91 & Philippians 4:4–9 in The Amplified translation of the Bible)
