How God Transforms Us.
3 Truths To Overcome Sin That Every Believer Must Know

The transformation of a butterfly.

When we become born again (i.e. when we believe that Jesus is the son of God & that He died for our sins & rose again, and confess Jesus as Lord & Savior of our lives), our spirit becomes instantly changed because we receive the Holy Spirit, but our minds, emotions, & desires do not experience that total & instant change. Instead, these aspects of us are gradually transformed as we walk with the Lord

Therefore, when we sin as Christians, we should not think we aren’t born again anymore or that God has left us— He has not; rather, we should lean more on God for grace to transform us & give us victory over sin.

These 3 things will help us receive God’s grace (God’s help or divine enablement) to overcome any sin that we struggle with:

1. Ask for Mercy & Grace: When you sin, don’t run away from God; instead run TO God. Don’t feel that God does not love you or want you anymore; He does.

Ask Him for mercy (tell
God you're sorry) and grace (tell Him to give you power/grace to overcome that sin). Hebrews 4:12-16. 1 John 1:9. Luke 15.

2. Consume Scriptures: Read, think deeply upon, declare with your mouth, and OBEY Bible verses related to the sin you are struggling with.

The Bible is the word of God, and if it’s consistently imbibed and obeyed, it has the power to deliver you from any sin. Psalm 119:9-11. Hebrews 4:12-16

3. Confess your sins to Christians you trust.

Sin thrives in secrecy. Tell a Christian friend who can pray with you and/or help you. You can’t handle everything you own; there are struggles you need to share with fellow believers that you trust if you want victory. James 5:16
