God heals fractured minds

Sometimes our view of mental health illness is twisted.

You hear a person struggling with a mental difficulty say "I'm not crazy, why should I see a psychiatrist?"

That's like having typhoid and saying, "I'm not sick, why should I see a doctor?"

Yes, you're not crazy, but you're ill. And that's okay.

Like a shattered eye-glass, it distorts our perception of reality, and sometimes of ourselves.

Just as you wouldn't try to fix a damaged eye by yourself, it's the same way you may not be able to fix a damaged mind by yourself.

In trying and trying to fix it yourself, your mental health may get worse or you may cause yourself more harm- or you delay your recovery.

Right now, talking to a therapist may be the bravest thing you can do.

In the words of a Christian rap artist, who battled seriously with depression and anxiety, "If you're struggling with your mental health don't just struggle in silence. Find a therapist, psychiatrist, counselor, psychologist, or doctor that God has gifted to help you process."

You've tried very hard, you know you have tried- to fix your mind and your emotions, and yet the pain doesn't go away; you still feel depressed, anxious, unstable, tired, drained, and spent. Don't you think it's time to get help?

And yes, you may have tried seeking help a few times before, and it didn't go great, but don't stop trying.

Yes, your mind is fractured, but it's not shattered. It can still be mended; it can still be made whole.

And don't stop believing there will be light at the end of this tunnel.

God heals fractured minds.

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Matthew 11:28‭-‬29 NLT
