Four Simple Words That Can Change A Life.

A conversation I had with a teenager went something like this:

Teen X: I was molested. My parents compare me to my sisters. I struggle with schoolwork. I'm average. My dad doesn't have our time, he seems more concerned with his reputation. My mum doesn't talk much.

Me: How do these things sometimes make you see yourself?

Teen X: Sometimes, I see myself as worthless, I feel like trash.

Me: You are not worthless, you are gold. You will do well. I believe in you.

Teen X: This is the first time anyone said that to me.

Me: I hope you never forget it. It's true.

*******

There are 3 things I’ll like to highlight from this conversation:

1- Listen to young people: Today, take some time to really listen to your young people (or anyone you care about for that matter) You may be surprised to find that they have a lot they are struggling with.

2- See them through God’s eyes: It’s so easy for a person to see themselves through the negative shadow their struggles cast on their life. Today, remind your loved ones that their struggles do not define them.

Keep reminding them to see themselves the way God sees them, not through the lens of their mistakes, weaknesses or struggles.

And see them that way too. No matter their weaknesses or bad behavior, don't let it stop you from seeing them through God's eyes and keep believing that someday, they will grow into whom God says they are.

3- Tell them you believe in them: It’s four simple words that can change a life.

Four words that can free a person from the chains of self-doubt, low self-esteem and helplessness, and instead, inspire them to dream of great things and strive to succeed

Four words that can transform the life of someone going nowhere into a person on a mission to make a positive difference in the world.

Today, tell someone you believe in them. Don’t just say it because it sounds nice, say it because you mean it.

Today, do something life-changing. Please Share this article and Clap for it (you can clap up to 50 times) so more people get to see it. Thanks.
