BOYS TO VILLAINS

As a boy I was intrigued by superhero movies.

A common plot in such movies was the hero saving a damsel from trouble. Boys pictured one day they will be the Superman that saved some Lois Lane from danger; it was our noble desire to defend girls.

Fast forward to adulthood, and life is much different than we pictured. In many cases, the defender has become the oppressor; many boys bully girls, many men molest women, several husbands harass wives, Superman has become Doomsday— the hero turned villain.

Somewhere along the line, we lost our way.

But we need to find it again, and stop the hell we've created for women.

It’s time we ask the men we've become if they’re who we dreamed of as boys.

Happy Father's day.
